We’re pleased to announce that Fox have acquired Synergy Boreholes, a market leading specialist borehole drilling company working in the ground source heating and groundwater fields. Synergy have an extensive modern fleet of equipment with rigs capable of drilling to in excess of 200m. There is a strong overlap of work and experience, and Fox have already completed trenching work for Synergy.

New build housing schemes are no longer able to use gas fired heating, and so the industry is finding new ways to heat homes efficiently. Ground source heat arrays are increasingly being used for schools, care homes and large housing developments due to its much greater efficiency over the alternative technologies such as air source heating. These district heating schemes are already commonplace in large buildings, and are gradually being rolled out in new developments. Synergy are due to shortly commence a flagship development on the south coast, which has a solar array powering the geothermal network which is the only heat source for the entire development of several thousand homes.

Similarly, climate change is impacting access to water resources and requiring new developments to use sustainable drainage systems. There has been an increased demand for access to groundwater resources including groundwater wells, as well as a growing use of boreholes as part of soakaway systems, particularly on small urban sites.

Synergy Boreholes is well positioned to address some of the challenges of our changing climate, and we’re excited to welcome their team to the Fox family.
